The pitch of a note is how low or high it sounds - if a cow's moo is low and a mouse squeak is high! :)

On the piano, low notes are to the left, higher to the right.

On sheet music, the pitch is alphabetical from A to G as you climb the lines and spaces - see note reading.

Sometimes symbols are added to change the pitch of notes:

note-sharp.png (#) - sharp - raise note a semitone
note-flat.png (b) - flat - lower note a semitone

These two are less common, they double the effect:

note-double-sharp.png (x) - double-sharp - raise note a whole tone
note-double-flat.png (bb) - double-flat - lower note a whole tone
