Here's a few tips for reading the pitch of notes on sheet music. Also see note lengths.

  • you can always spot middle C - 1 line through the middle of the note in the middle of the clefs
  • it's easy to memorise the spaces:
F.A.C.E. Spaces spell FACE  - for treble clef
A.C.E.G. All Cows Eat Grass - for bass clef 
  • when reading a melody or phrase: once you know the start note, look for steps and skips
